Among these attributes there are different criteria which make up Traditional Chinese medicine. Though tracing back the origins of traditional Chinese medicines is quite difficult, the father of traditional Chinese medicine is said to be Shen Nung. He is the first person to make use of plants and minerals to heal people. While the process through which he achieved this was entirely trial and error basis in which he managed to poison himself atleast seventy times. Traditional Chinese medicine story dates about 6000 years ago and since then it has completely evolved.

Presently Chinese medicine is still widely used along with conventional medicines in the hospitals. Traditional Chinese medicine has increasingly become famous worldwide and more people seek this form of treatment for their illnesses. The main principle of Chinese medicine is bringing the bodies balance and homeostasis back to the point where it must be to achieve optimum health. Traditional Chinese medicine basically concentrates on not just the problem but also the root from where the weakness arose. The optimum balance a body requires for optimal health is characterized by the “yin” and “yang”. In simple terms, “yin” represents “a negative and passive force” wherein “yang” represents “a positive force”. Both Yin and Yang support each other as they oppose each other. From this article we can observe that traditional Chinese medicine views body as a whole and every part of the body is interlinked.
